Georgia magazine, the largest circulation monthly magazine in Georgia with more than 500,000 copies delivered to subscribers, is featuring a cover photo by Studio 2055 principal Richard Dowdy. The March, 2010 issue offers a feature story on the young Lovell Sisters, Georgia natives who appeared at an Acoustic Music San Diego (AMSD) concert in July, 2009. Richard, as house photographer for AMSD, shot the photos that appear in the magazine’s cover story as well as the cover shot of Rebecca Lovell.
Acoustic Music San Diego (AMSD), founded more than six years ago by promoter Carey Driscoll, has presented a stellar lineup of singers, songwriters and performers since its inception. It ranks as one of San Diego’s most popular and eclectic music venues. Carey Driscoll’s Normal Heights site has featured known and unknown performers, among them Eliza Gilkyson, Richie Havens, Tom Russell, Geoff Muldaur, Dave Alvin and David Honeyboy Edwards.
Driscoll booked the sisters for his music series in Normal Heights when he saw videos of the trio playing on You Tube. Not only are they outstanding musicians and singers, but also write many of their own songs.
“They were easy to photograph,” says Richard, “as all three are beautiful, talented girls. It was a simple task to get good results as they performed.”
