North to Mendocino

Mendocino Rocks

By Richard Dowdy

A solo trip north to Mendocino from Carlsbad gave me the opportunity to shoot photos in a new location. Weather was fine—winds were strong on the coast. Scenic landscapes were plentiful and the people I met were enjoyable to visit with. The winding roads (Highway 1 south) were as twisty as Big Sur’s Highway 1, with little opportunity to find a place to pull off to shoot the vistas below. Except for a brief visit to San Francisco, I avoided the cities and towns. The results of my eight-day run up the coast can be seen in the slide show above.
